I don't know that we really need more defense do we?

Unless one or two of Risto., Zarderev, or McBain will not be with the NHL club next year.....I think all 3 of those guys are ready to play at this level....any that's already assuming that Tallinder is gone, as he should be.

2 Years $4-5MM per. Helps the Sabres get to the cap floor while not improving the team a great amount. Plus brings leadership. Sounds perfect.

I say no way to Orpik.

Hey looks like Golisano will be putting in a bid on the Bills. What that tells me is that there is someone out there serious about moving the team.

You should take that 4-5 mil and spend it on scoring. You can get a 5/6 Dman for under 2 mil . Get Engelland instead.

He's worth 1.9 Billion, its going to cost him at least 1 Billion. It will take him a long time to recoup that money. He would be putting his ass on the line for us BIG TIME.

Spends $1Bil. Makes hundreds of millions in profits during his owenership.

Sells team for $1Bil 20 years down the road.

Profit! $$$

That easy huh? Its not a profit when you haven't made the money back that you spent. Its called risk, and he would inherit a lot of it in a small market with cheap tickets for a team that doesn't sell out its games.

In the NFL yes. It's that easy. The TV contracts alone generates teams millions of dollars in revenue each year.

The only "risk" he inherits is the stadium. Which taxpayers are going to pay for, unless NYS comes up with a plan to use other revenues to fund it, but dont hold your breath.

TBH, the Sabres dont really need a d-man. They need scoring badly like you mentioned. That is going to come from this and next years draft.

What major risks does he have? The Bills have and will continue to turn a massive profit every year. It's not like the Sabres where you could only spend X amount to turn a profit?

That was a massive risk in a sport that at the time was on a decline.

Also, I highly doubt it is Just Golisano. He will have a group like he did with the Sabres. He wont be fronting all of the money. Majority yes, but not all.

It was estimated that Ralph Wilson took home 30 Million a year running his debt free NFL franchise(that he paid $25,000 for in 1959, which would be $201,599 in todays dollars). At that rate it would take him 33 years just to break even, all the while inheriting the risk of running a business that may or may not be successful. Plus Tom will inherit some debt on a stadium deal. That's a big time risk and he would be putting his ass on the line for us.

Good news is Buffalo New Yorks only football team, Cuomo wants to show how great his is in hid bid for President so he's going all in. So all in all I think this will work out for us. Sure it will cost us tax money but Football is more fun than not football.
